CSR

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in tourism is a guiding business policy in which tourism companies integrate social and environmental concerns into their own business mission, strategies, and operations, as well as their interactions with their stakeholders. As corporations are part of a larger society, meeting the needs of stakeholders is critical to retaining societal legitimacy and financial liability in the long run. There are different frameworks and guidelines available for integrating CSR into a company’s strategy depending on the company’s specific characteristics and its perception of its social responsibilities. CSR today is seen as a multi-stakeholder approach where stakeholders are not only receivers but also partners in realizing and implementing CSR strategies. CSR has become an important component of tourism companies' strategies. Environmental protection, fair working conditions for employees, and contributing to the well-being of local communities are all important issues in international tourism corporations' strategies.

CSR Policy

Corporate Social Responsibility is defined in the company act as "an activity that promotes poverty reduction, education, health, environmental sustainability, gender quality, and vocational skill development." The Indian tourism industry is one of the largest contributors to the service sector and significantly contributes to the country's economic development. The tourism industry has a significant impact on the environmental, legal, and social conditions of a specific location. The primary goals of Corporate Social Responsibility are to maximise the company's overall influence on society's various stakeholders. This study will discuss the role and current scenario of Corporate Social Responsibility in the tourism industry for improved service quality and corporate obligations to all stakeholders. This chapter begins with a definition of Corporate Social Responsibility, its history, and the various issues and challenges that organisations face when implementing CSR in the tourism industry.

Corporate Social Responsibility is a responsibility and accountability to a larger segment of society through active compliance with ethical standards and globally accepted norms. It encourages a positive impact on various stakeholders such as the government, businesses, employees, banking and financial institutions, investors, creditors and competitors, society, and so on. According to (De Grosbois, 2001), stakeholders of Corporate Social Responsibility are demanding responsible business practices due to growing awareness of social and environmental issues.

Corporate Social Responsibility has expanded its boundaries to all areas of society in today's world because the government cannot develop every sector on its own. Corporate Social Responsibility plays a very important role in the service sector, especially in the tourism industry. The basic need of implementing Corporate Social Responsibility in the tourism industry is due to the following reasons.
